For those of you that have pets (I can't imagine not having one), do you pick 'normal' names for them or more 'animal/pet' like names? We've always gone for unique names.
This is Miffy. She's precious to me. We've had her 4.5 years. She really scared us about 6 weeks ago and I have been hesitant to post anything about it- but she had kidney problems- maybe I should say 'has' kidneys problems because I think she'll always have it and we'll have to be more careful to monitor it.
Basically, she stopped eating- slowly. We thought it was because of our hectic travel schedule mid-late October. I spent several evenings on the kitchen floor trying to get her to eat. anything.
My husband's grandmother also passed away during that time and so we couldn't get her to the vet. But when we did, her blood levels were way off.
I didn't go to the vet- I can't stand to go there. But my husband called and said they gave her fluids- and that it wasn't good news and that I should "prepare myself". I was at work, getting ready to go to lunch for my bosses birthday.
That weekend was hard. He took her in on Saturday for more fluids and learned how to give her fluids via an IV. So for the last few weeks, we have spent every other morning giving her fluids. She had a few good days (eating wise) and then she would not for a day- and back and forth.
She's been back for 3 more blood tests and each one has gotten better- but not totally normal. But the last week, she has done great. The bad thing is that starting tomorrow, for 3 days, neither of us will be home- so I'm a little worried how she'll do while we're gone.
She is on the pillow next to me, as I get ready to go to sleep- and I just wanted to take a picture of her and then I felt like I was ready to share her recent struggles.
So as a lesson learned, monitor your pet's diet carefully and take them to the vet if you think something's up!
